The Historic Preservation Loan Program

historic train stationThe Historic Preservation Loan Program provides loans to nonprofit organizations, local jurisdictions, business entities, and individuals to assist in the protection of historic property. Loan funds can be used to acquire, rehabilitate, or restore historic property listed on, or eligible for, the National Register of Historic Places. They may also be used for short-term financing of studies, surveys, plans and specifications, and architectural, engineering, or other special services directly related to pre-construction work required or recommended by the Trust or the State Historic Preservation Officer on projects being funded with federal or state monies. The average loan has been in the amount of $100,000, with loans as large as $300,000 having been settled. The low interest loans are available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year. Successful applicants must convey a perpetual historic preservation easement to the Trust. For more information, contact Richard Brand, Office of Preservation Services, at (410) 514-7634.

SPECIAL LOAN OPPORTUNITY FOR
